The theory test consists of two elements:

The first element is multiple choice, consisting of 50 randomly selected questions. This section is designed to test your understanding of the theory behind driving. The second element is the Hazard Perception Test (HPT) and is designed to test your awareness of potential hazards whilst driving.

If you prepare well you have an excellent chance of passing on your first attempt.

Use of Mobile Phones

It is an offence to use a hand held mobile phone while driving.

Depending on the nature of the driving at the time, the driver may be at risk of being charged with Driving Without Due Care and Attention.

Update.....

From 27th February 2007, it is now an endorsable offence to use a mobile phone whilst driving. It will carry a £60 fine and will result in 3 points being added to your licence
